Police Dog Bites Suspect After Chase

Police say a Binghamton man they chased on foot after he drove through a stop sign early Sunday morning was found hiding in a stranger’s basement.

Frank M. Frantellizzi, 20, of 85 Decatur St., was charged with second-degree criminal trespass, a misdemeanor; and resisting arrest, a misdemeanor; and second-degree harassment, a violation.  The harassment charge came from a previous bench warrant.

Binghamton police said they followed Frantellizzi after he drove through a stop sign at the intersection of Main Street and Laurel Avenue- about 2:45 a.m., Sunday.  He then got out of the car and ran to a building at 34 Clark St., police said.

Police said they dispatched a dog, Brando, and shouted out twice that they would let him loose.  Brando found Frantellizzi in the cellar of the building.

When police approached, Frantellizzi would not show them his hands.  When they grabbed him they said he fought with them.  Then Brando bit Frantellizzi on the leg.

Frantellizzi was being held in Binghamton city lockup Sunday night for arraignment today in Binghamton City Court.
